All right, this kitchen before had a huge wall here. You’d come in from the front door, and it felt very boxy. It made the galley kitchen feel very enclosed, and in other units in this particular condo unit, they had taken it out and it looked really good, and so we wanted to copy that.
And so we were able to take the whole wall out so that it let a bunch of the light in from the river, from these big, beautiful windows that we have, and came out wonderfully.
There’s some very specific features here that we went the extra mile to make sure—make sure that they came out perfect.
This marble backsplash tile, which actually is matched in other parts of the house, goes all the way around as the backsplash, and then the trimming is the same material—marble trimming that is different from the Schluter that we normally use.
This countertop, you’ll notice that it’s got a little bit more height. We spent the extra money to do a double ogee. That’s what this particular cut is called—double ogee cut. And it is—it just adds a little bit more elegance to this particular kitchen.
We wanted to keep the cabinets, and so that’s one of the things we’re really good at at Legacy is if there is something you do want to keep, we protect it. We make sure it’s completely safe so that at the end of the project it still looks in perfect condition.
So we did the entire renovation with keeping the cabinets in place, always protecting them, swapping out the range, making sure everything is still going to fit perfectly at the end of the project, but we make it happen. So, this kitchen came out great.
This one’s pretty simple, not as extreme because we actually left the tub and did all the work around the tub.
We’ve got beautiful marble tile pieces that go all the way to the ceiling, and then off to the right, you’ve got a nice big storage niche that’s right here.
Now, I’d like to point out one thing. When we opened up all these walls, there’s actually metal studs in here—we’re in a big condo complex—and we originally had a plan to put the niche in a different location. It was actually going to be centered on the tub, but there was beams there that we couldn’t move.
And so we had to make those slight adjustments so that we still get the size that we want out of the niche, but we did have to slide it over. And still can fit the curtain perfectly good. We made the adjustments and continued the project moving over—moving forward.
Simple shower head, all brand-new valves, brand-new trim kit. Anytime we do a bathroom, you always want to replace those valves, just so you don’t have the chance of pinholes or any issues during the demo phase. It can get kind of crazy, and so you just want to make sure you have nice new stuff in there to decrease the chance of problems in the future.
Beautiful countertop stone. This is actually quartzite; it is a natural material, so it’s all completely unique. And then to add to that uniqueness, we did a double ogee edge on this top, which adds a little bit of height, elevation.
And then backsplash-ing it, that same marble tile goes all the way to the ceiling to give the mirror a nice frame around the frameless mirror.
Tons of custom work in here, and I can’t wait to show you some of the features in here.
This custom vanity we had built—we built this vanity so that it matched the kitchen cabinets. And so the same color, same shape, same style, we can do that.
Same thing with the countertop. We wanted the double ogee, which is what this is called, and it gives a little bit of height to the countertop and it just elevates it a little bit and gives a little more elegance when it comes to stone and comes to countertop.
And then for all the tops of the pony walls, you got matching stone throughout the entire bathroom.
One of the cool things we did here is this tub was a nice Jacuzzi tub, and we ended up taking it out safely, storing it in the garage, so that we could do the stone top for the sink to—or for the tub to sit down in.
And then this beautiful fireplace to just set the ambiance in here for this spa-like bathroom.
And then over here, you would not believe the shower. It was a tiny insert shower that was right here and did not look very good at all, as you can imagine. Now look at it: wonderful!
We got double shower head faucets, a towel warmer that’s super convenient right here. We don’t want any glass—very maintenance-free. No glass cleaning or anything like that, you can just walk right in. Curbless shower with a linear drain, tons of storage space, and then small little benches that fit within the space that we had to work with.
And so these walls—marble all the way to the ceiling, all the way around the bathroom, again with this trimming that matches the marble.
